Member of Technical Staff
(MTS) at AT&T Bell Laboratory
A UNIX kernel guru in Unix Planning and Support
Group, primary responsible for the following:
* Supporting UNIX Kernel on various architectures
(Amdahl, IBM 3090, VAX 86xx, AT&T 3B2, 386 and SUN).

* Writing UNIX kernel routines to track system problems.
* Help, assist and train Unix System administrators in solving and
trouble shooting UNIX problems.
* Developed the following performance tools that helps in System
Management:
As a project leader, I was responsible for development,
design, and management of the product PULSE:
A centralized performance monitoring and data analysis tool. PULSE
collects performance data from any number of UNIX systems and provides
central storage and display of the performance data. PULSE collects
up to eleven-performance metrics per system. The selection of the
metrics is determined by the user and may differ from system to
system. The PULSE `data gatherer' will handle any metric a user
can supply and supports all UNIX System V architectures. The PULSE
graphical display (using an AT&T 630/730 MTG) dynamically displays
the performance data and - on demand - displays the performance
data for any system for any previous date along with the surrounding
week and the surrounding month. PULSE produces hard-copy output
of these displays in PostScript, Pic or Plot format. PULSE also
has a threshold monitor for each of the metrics collected which
detects performance problems by comparing each current data point
against the historical average of that metric for the monitored
system. The hour-by-hour, day-by-day PULSE software. In addition,
PULSE provides an interface to any DBMS supporting the industry-standard
SQL and EQUEL calls.
Developed the PULSE Data Gatherer to collect performance
metrics from the kernel of Vax, Amdahl, IBM 3090, AT&T 3B2,
Pyramid (AT&T 7000), SUN, Mips, 386, and Auspex (NS5000).
Involved with PULSE product Marketing and Support,
and designing next version of PULSE using X-based Graphical Display.
